Schedule
Our worship service is at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school at 9:15 a.m.
Sunday School
Join us in a journey of faith and learning! We have six classes for children and youth from preschool through high school. Adults can choose from Bible Study or discussion groups. All classes begin at 9:15.
Vacation Bible School
We are planning Vacation Bible School for the last week of June. Watch for the exciting details in the next few weeks!
Nursery
A Professionally Staffed Nursery is provided for infants and toddlers in Room 203 during the worship service.
Family Room
The child is suddenly fussy and you're
confronted with a "Hobson's Choice." Do you stay in worship and risk
alienating others around you, or do you take them out and miss large portions of
the service that you came to attend? Fortunately, we have a better choice. At First Presbyterian, you take them to the "Cry Room" just
to the right of the interior sanctuary doors as you head toward the main
hallway. It has a window through which adults can continue to watch the service
and a speaker through which the audio is piped. There's a restroom for diaper
changes, comfortable chairs for rocking, feeding, burping, etc. So you don't
have to choose between losing your friends and losing your religion. You won't miss a
thing -- except those dirty looks from folks
who've forgotten what it's like to try to pray and parent simultaneously.
Nickel-A-Meal
You say you don't know what
"Nickel-A-Meal" is? It is an on-going special offering that supports
three hunger-action ministries. The idea is simple: you put a container of some
sort on your table at home. Then at every meal, you put in a nickel for each
person at the table. On the third Sunday of each month, you bring all those
nickels (and dimes, quarters, etc.) to worship and the children pick them up
during the Children's Moment. So... if you haven't begun your own
"Nickel-A-Meal" project, there's still time.
Special Features and Facilities
Rest rooms are located on the
upper and lower levels and are accessible to all persons. They include baby
changing stations.
Large print bulletins and special worship bulletins for children are available from the Ushers who will
also be happy to give directions or answer other questions.
A Telex FM Broadcast System is
available to assist those with hearing impairment.
Visitors
Please let us know if you are a
visitor. There is a Friendship Register in each pew. When it's passed to
you, please sign it. We have blue guest bags for our visitors. An Usher will get
one for you. If you would like additional information about our congregation,
it's "in the bag."
Winter Closing Policy
Due to the steep slopes on our
property, driving and parking can be very adventurous in ice and snow.
When Carroll County public
schools are closed, due to ice or snow, our church buildings and programs
(including Pre-School) are closed.
When the county schools open
late, the Pre-School opens on a shortened schedule at 11 a.m. Other programs,
meetings and events for that afternoon and evening usually go on as scheduled.
If schools close early, then
church buildings and programs that afternoon and evening are usually canceled.
On Sundays, depending on the
severity of the weather and the timely availability of our snow plowing
contractor, we may run a shortened schedule or cancel services altogether. Tune
in to WTTR Radio. We'll let them know by 7:30 a.m. You may also call the main
church telephone number, where we will put a notice on the answering machine.
